This area of medicine which deals with symptom control and is non-curative. Essentially, patients who are dying and lengthening life takes second place to making sure they are comfortable. It concerns areas such as pain control, continence and a multidisciplinary team approach. Often, doctors are not the best people to deal with the issues that the patients have.
