Differential Diagnosis

  • Blood vessel ulcers
    • Venous - 80% of leg ulcers are venous. Painless, shallow with an irregular border
    • Arterial - rubbish blood flow due to atherosclerosis
  • Diabetic neuropathy - you lose feeling in your feet, start walking on plugs and then get a hole/ulcer in your foot.
  • Cancer - these will generally start out a crazy moles. Important because some moles will kill you. Especially, if they're angry.
  • Trauma - either being hit or a pressure sore
  • Rarely, vasculitis
