There are seven symptoms
- Narrowing of repertoire
- Increased salience in drinking - becomes the most important thing in your life
- Increased tolerance to alcohol
- Withdrawal
- Avoided withdrawal with further drinking
- Awareness of compulsion to drink
- Rapid reinstatement after abstinence
