The urethra runs from the sphincter vesicae in the bladder to (in men) the tip of the penis, or (in women) to an exit hole in the vulva between the clitoris and the vagina.

Since the urethra in males is roughly 15cm long, they are much less prone to UTIs than in women, who have one of around 3cm.
