This is a broad school, which on the one hand encompasses all infective illness it is possible to suffer from, but on thed is a specific specialty. Much of the content below is strongly related to section in the microbiology area.
Important diseases
Common infections
- Bacterial - Lyme disease, Listeriosis, Brucellosis, Tetanus and Syphilis.
- Viral - Epstein-Barr, Cytomegalovirus, Herpes simplex and Varicella-zoster.
- Fungal - Candida, Aspergillus and Cryptococcal.
Tropical diseases
- Typhoid
- Dengue
- Leptospirosis
- Also worth knowing about is Schistosomiasis, Tick typhus and haemorrhagic fevers.
