Urology is the specialty that deals with problems in the urinary tract; the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and urethra. There are three main components to urology; stones, cancer, and problems with weeing:
Stones
The main two types of stones are renal calculi.
Urological cancer
Problems with wee
Other stuff
- Urinary Tract Infection is the most common urological condition, and as such is usually dealt with through GPs.
- Urology comes up a bit in paediatrics - mostly as UTIs in kids.
- Neurological conditions such as MS, Spinal cord injury and Parkinson's can have severe urological symptoms.
